obvious gun bulge/ violation?
Does a bulge in your clothing, which most would construe as a gun, violate the concealment law? I got out of my car the other day and didn't realize my holster was kind of pushed around and the handle of the gun was kind of sticking out into my shirt. Not visible, but anyone looking at me would know I'm carrying a gun.
And then I had to adjust it there in the parking lot. I did it without the gun becoming visible, but again, obvious what I was doing.

I always do a quick check after exiting the Vehicle and ask my wife if I am not concealed well . Try doing a once over after exiting the car. As far as law check you state laws. Here is a good site Handgunlaw.us

Nope. You can bulge so much that it looks like you've stuffed a chair under your shirt and it should'nt matter.

I have to pull my shirt down if I get up from sitting or bending over. Tends to bunch up around the grip.

A bulge is a bulge and only reveals that it is a bulge. A visible gun is a visible gun. A concealed weapon is a concealed weapon. Concealed is "hidden from plain sight".

All depends on state law. Some prohibit "printing." Others prohibit only "intentional display."
If it is obvious that the bulge is a gun, it is printing. If it could be a cat, ....

A bulge on the hip is brandishing, just like a bulge "somewhere" else is lewd and lascivious. Yeah right.
If someone can see that you have a gun and not a cell phone, you're wrong.

Agreed, and with lots of folks carrying cellphones and leatherman's on their belts, I can hardly see how anyone could prove a "buldge".
It is utterly illogical to believe that passing laws to reduce gun violence will be successful when those who are commiting the gun violence do not obey the law.

In agreement with Z&H, I see so many people with these huge cell phone clips and cases on their hips that it's almost too much. They'll tug their shirt over it and it looks like they're trying to cover a softball under their Tshirt. It would look better if they'd just let their shirt ride over the top of their phone, kinda tucked behind.
So, no. A bulge, even to a fellow CCW'er, might hint that there might be a gun, but without seeing it, it's only a hunch. No one "knows" you have a gun.

I had that issue once. Was fueling a vehicle, and some guy was chatting with me. When I noticed a strange look on his face. He ended the conversation and walked away.
It was quite funny at the time, but I am far more careful now days.
I had a buddy ask what I had in my pocket one day. I just replied a wad of receipts I had finally remembered to take home, along with my cell phone.

it probably depends on your state law. some states require you to be concealed at all times, and others do not. if an obvious bulge is present, that might be considered non concealed.

Which states prohibit printing, and can you provide references to the laws?
Thanks

It all depends on your state (as already mentioned), in Utah, its not a problem.
