    Chambered round

Heres the question... in response to sooo many people not carrying a round in the chamber, in spite of extensive research that almost every def. shooting "all happened so fast", if you had a choice between carrying 1 round chambered and an empty mag, or an empty chamber with a full magazine, what would you pick?

Can't really answer that poll. I see absolutely no situation where I would have a round chambered and an empty mag. I carry fully loaded all the time.

Humor me. There have been greater stretches of the imagination in past polls...

    I go both ways.

I chose 'one ready' vice condition three if I had no choice.

I will. I thought about it. I'd rather have one ready to go than a full mag...........see-a full mag won't do me any good once the BG gets the jump on me. I guess I could hit 'em in the head with the pistol if I'm still able and alive? Who here has ever practiced racking the slide on a semi-auto against their belt or their thigh one handed? Weak handed? Consider an 18lb average recoil spring. You're not getting off that easy with your poll. Just wanted you to know.

I only posted this to make it clear to the limp-gun carriers exactly how important it is. I can't think of a better way to stress this point.

Seems like we have an opening for another poll. Things we never contemplated on a firearms forum.

The point being made is not "...this is the way you would carry." It asks, how important is it to have "one in the chamber."

The counter polls could be many however. Like would you rather have a knife or a gun with one shot in a knife fight. I would go with the gun.

I desided to play along, it has merit.

I went from 16 round Glock to a 5 shot revolver. I now have fewer rounds for a gun because it is more comfortable. However I went with a revolver over a slim subcompact semi-auto (that would have more rounds) because I could respond faster with the revolver in some situations (like in coat pocket).

So quick response is important to me in SD. Because this is a CC forum, I assume we are talking while I CC.

At home, I would go full mag unchambered.

can't vote in this poll...I currently carry two guns, so i would carry my pocket carry with one in the chamber, and my IWB carry with a full mag. I can buy a second or two with that first shot, and maybe, just maybe, I can get the other out and racked before I die.

    Let's pretend: one gun.

Sorry titleist, I'm with Ramrod on this, why not ask who would rather have a gun or not have one. I have it +1 at all times,

    BUT

when I was new at carrying(for about 1 week) I would carry loaded without it chambered. Pretty foolish, but a little on the safe side while I was getting used to having a pistol.
