One time many moons ago I was driving thru Wyoming and got nailed for speeding. When the officer asked for my registration I just automatically leaned over and opened my glove box and WHAMMO!! THERE IT WAS!! My Colt Commander was right smack dab in plain sight, illegal as hell, and I just about had a stroke. Instead, quick as a fox I slipped my hand under some other papers and lifted the gun up and out of sight. WHEW!! He didn't see it, but that was the day I decided to put everything on the visor, and that's where it's been ever since.
I'm with the others on here to avoid a stop in the first place, but not a bad idea if you have a lead foot :).
Also I see two instances in this thread where someone has forgotten they have a firearm in the glove box?
How do you forget you have a firearm, I have not myself ever not known where my handguns are at anytime. Maybe it's just habit to open up the glove box, but there should always be the thought of where your handgun is at all times. That, and it is always on my person with me aware of it, unless I am in bed, which case it is right next to me in a gunvault
