    Question Maryland non-resident?

My buddy just told me that if I have a home state or multiple states CCW permits, that I could apply for my Maryland CCW non-resident permit and they will issue it much like Massachusetts will for out of staters. Is this true or am I being fed a line?

I have a feeling its not the case, but it never hurts to clarify.

Do the words "hook, line, and sinker" mean anything to you? Maryland won't give residents permits, why would they give them to "strangers"?

You have a better chance of receiving a unicorn from Maryland than you have of obtaining a Maryland CCW.

Here's what Handgunlaw.us has to say about a MD Non-res.

    Maryland
Maryland Code: Public Safety Article 27 Crimes And Punishments : Handguns : 36E. Permits.

In Maryland it is almost impossible for a nonresident
to obtain a permit. You must show ca8se with
police reports etc. Click on Maryland in the header to go to the Maryland State Police. There is info there
on applying. Click on the Maryland Code above and it will take you to LexisNexis and you can look at
the Maryland law on permits. We can not link directly to the law you must go to Public Safety. Then
Article 27 and so on to read the code on Permits.
    Massachusetts

I have a feeling its not the case, but it never hurts to clarify.
Unless something has changed recently, yeah, its probably not the case(unless you carry sums of cash through the state, work security in the state, ex-LEO).
HOWEVER,if the fees won't put you into bankruptcy, you should try anyway. A lot of others will simply just assume they won't get it. The point is to fight for it, make them earn the denial. If no one tries, no one succeeds and the state continues to do what it always does-SCREW US. I'm doing the same thing for a NJ permit(the fees and paperwork are much less than MD,thank goodness). I've researched legal cases and self-defense avenues to throw at them when I'm denied.I believe you may find that any 2A cases in MD Pre-Heller will claim the 2A is a collective right. They can't stand on that crutch anymore.
You would have to go to MD for the interview/appeals though, I don't think you get one without it. PM me if you're serious about going for it, I may be able to give you some ideas that may help.

MA non-resident is _nothing_ like that of MD.
The two are not even remotely similar.

    Forget about MD.
As noted it is a unicorn for residents, and doubly so for non residents.

Thanks JD... got the point now

I figured it was the case, or something might have changed, but then it dawned on me... if something did change in Maryland, I have a pretty strong gut feeling that I'd find out about it on one of the gun forums I'm on. That would be something that would not be kept secret.
