    Man With Gun

So I'm at work yesterday and get a call on the radio ref. a guy in the parking lot with a gun showing in the back of his pants. Kind of freaked out the caller.
We don't ban firearms here but there is no open carry in Texas. I stayed at the entrance to our facility for a bit and found the guy. Got him away from his group and had a chat. Turns out he was LEO (Rookie). Showed me his credentials and that was it.
Hopefully he was embarassed enough by the situation that he will take care to keep his firearm concealed henceforth.

Just out of curiosity, are LEO allowed to carry concealed on just their LEO credentials when off duty?
Freedom doesn't come free. It is bought and paid for by the lives and blood of our men and women in uniform.

I don't want to name the agency, but the answer to your question is that in this case, yes.

I can understand a 'rookie' LEO, but not a 'rookie' when it comes to gun responsibilities.
Either know the rules, or don't touch a weapon.

    Yep. BTDT.
When he neared the entrance the firearm was concealed. I'm pretty good at spotting these things.

    BTDT? Don't know that one.

Everyone who carries concealed needs to learn CCW etiquette sometime, even the police!
    ALWAYS carry! - NEVER tell!

judgement to keep himself out of situations that would require a display of his
    superior skills."

I've seen lots of LEO carrying unconcealed, but they usually have a badge by their holster, and like people said even a cop carrying concealed needs to keep it that way,too many sheeple or if your carrying SOB somebody can walk up behind you and disarm you,It's harder to retain your weapon when you have to reach behind you instead of shoving your hand down on top of gun and continue pressure in a direct downward push, while utilizing an elbow to the head as you spin away

I'm glad the LEO I dealt with in this situation chose to go about armed off duty. I've always been surprised at how many LEO's do not.
Stuff happens. I believe this young LEO will be more discreet, going forward.

    LOL

I tawt I taw a CCW badge? I did i did. Like a bad penney they keep showing up.

Only thing missing is to have your personal ID# etched professionaly into it.
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.
