I have heard of some people applying for a CPL on the east side and walking out with it same day, but I am not sure how often this happens but you might get lucky. When I applied as a new resident it took the department I applied with in NW WA 7 days to issue the permit and I used a passport for ID as I had only just moved back to WA after spending 10 years in the UK.

received my permit from Spokane Police today. I am a new resident of WA (less then 60 days), but it only took my permit 15 days from application to arrival!

No hollowpoints,no magazines greater than 15 rounds. Must be locked in trunk,similiar to FOPA regulations. I'd also print out the regulations just in case you get stopped,keep a record of the class you're attending. NJ is not gun-owner friendly.Originally Posted by JonInNY
Thanks, as always, for all your good advice. I found a Utah certified instructor in New Jersey, who holds the classes monthly. I am going to try and sign up for the December class.
Now, hopefully, I won't have any trouble bringing my firearms into NJ for the class!
