I like it, and will have to use some of those next time I am asked why I carry a gun.

    How about:
    _______________________________
I carry a gun because it is my right.

I carry a gun because I want to.
    _______________________________

I don't need to offer reasons to carry a cell phone, a PDA, etc, a gun is not different.
Actually. if I start to "explain" it is almost like I am justifying a "bad" thing.

    But that's me
The first rule of a gunfight: "Don't be there !"
The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

I'll have to look through my old emails, I believe there is alot more to that then what was posted. Although all are exceptionally good reasons. When I find the email, I'll see which ones are missing and add.

We need to put that in a brochure or poster here in Illinois. We just need to replace "I carry" with "I want to carry".

I like the points about the police ........

It is true and people never think about it. But the LEOs do an awesome job, they try their best and in most cases they do all that is humanly possible...

But police are reactionary by nature. They are "responders" which means they are being called as a response to something that has already happened. They simply cannot be proactive when by design they are reactive.

Sure on the odd chance a cop might see a crime go down in time to prevent it, I'm certain he/she would be the best option to take care of it.

But none of these random acts of shooting that have become all too common here in the World are going to be prevented by a cop unless they are off-duty and just shopping with the family. In a sense a CCW shopper who happened to be there.....

Well we CCW just want to have a fair chance against the psycho, hell-bent on just killing. Something the cops just cannot prevent.
