Thank you Missouri
First off, hello to everyone.
Well, I picked up my permit today, which makes one more legal CCW in the great state of Missouri. It took 23 days from class to permit in hand. Add to that 38 state recipricocity, and you can see why I like Missouri. The county I'm in utilizes electronic fingerprinting, the FBI had my prints before I even left the station. Missouri is a shall issue state, but with electronic prints, the turn-around is really quick. All in all, the process was pretty painless. I'm looking forward to being able to protect myself and my family wherever I may be.
Some might like to know I already did my WWW, the Wally World Walk. I've been carrying around the house for the past two months, so I was pretty comfortable with having my weapon on my hip. As I figured, not one person noticed. I bought the prerequisite action flick, (one of the best, Full Metal Jacket), I passed over the Nachos (prior food poisoning incident with said nachos), and instead picked up some nacho cheese Doritos. I then made my way to the sporting goods section and picked up 300 rounds of ammo, paid for my purchases, and left without incident.
I'd like to take a minute to thank these boards, all the posters who frequent it, and the wealth of information contained herein. I've read a lot of good advice and input about our secret lifestyle, without ever having to ask a question, it was already here somewhere. So thank you everyone, and I'm pretty sure I'll be hanging around for awhile.
Concealed Carry Class...........................$125.00
Fingerprints at Sheriffs Office..................$91.70

Congrats...on the new permit!
What's with the cost of prints? Did you get dinner and drinks with it?
"That I cannot do."

I wish, the state of Missouri allows the Sheriffs to "charge a reasonable amount not to exceed $100" to cover the cost of fingerprinting and FBI check.
I guess they have to pay for that fancy new system somehow!

Anytime the law says something like, 'not to exceed x' it always seems that the actual price is very near x.
Where I live the law says no more than 45 days and no more than $50. Guess what...every single one takes exactly 45 days and costs exactly $50. When you have people in charge who do not think anyone should have a CCW, 'reasonable' has no meaning.

Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Congrats, I also carry in MO, I was talking to my CCW the other day and he said that his CCW classes are maxed every session. Nice to see Missourians doing their part to defend themselves responsibly.

I opted for a H&K p2000sk in 9mm with a Comp-Tac Minotaur IWB for EDC. It's a great little pistol, fit my hand perfect, shoots more accurately than I can, no failures of any kind, and besides....it's a H&K.
Thanks for all the welcomes from everyone.

I happened across that site a few weeks ago. There's some good info on there, I printed out the Gun Myths book and am in the process of reading it, very interesting read. I also liked the article that a lawyer had written up on MO CCW laws and it's interpretation. He laid it all out pretty good.
