How is SC reciprocity affected for non res CCW?

    Evening....
I have a military concealed weapons permit for SC because I'm a non-resident of that state. Permit only valid with my military ID. Do the states that honor SC's permit change if my permit isn't a resident one? I do travel to NC and now FL somewhat often. I'd like to know if my carrying in those states would be affected if my permit isn't a resident one.

If you get a florida non resident it covers you in a lot of states as long as they recognize non resident permits, kansas and colorado are 2 states that only recognize resident permits

I know that you can add MI to that mix.

I'm talking about resident vs non resident permits. Does it affect the states that honor SC's permit if I hold a non-res permit for that state?

Some of them it could indeed affect.

If they do not accept non resident permits from those that are not residents of the state of issue it certainly could. SC happens to be one of those states. I also think Florida is one of the ones that doesn't accept these, oddly enough. Would have to check on that one but I think so.

What might be more interesting to check on is how they would accept your Military status and this Military carry permit from SC you have. Thats a new one on me. Very interesting question too. I don't know how that would be viewed in those states. Each one might be different. A non resident Military permit just might be a different animal from the normal way the laws are written in these states.

As I understand it, the SC military license is considered by SC to be a "resident" license as they are granting that status to ALL military permanently stationed there. Therefore, it would not count as a non-resident permit in other states for reciprocity purposes.

The only "non-resident" permits SC offers is to owners of real estate in South Carolina.
