Ca. gun attitude
I went to S. Cal. for Thanksgiving from Colorado. While shopping with my wife, I noticed a couple of gentlemen come into the store. One of them had a pro amendment 2 tee shirt on. I went up to him and talked to him about the Ca. gun laws and CCW. While we were talking, his friend came up and said "We don't carry here because OF THE gangbangers." I told him "In Colorado, we carry BECAUSE of the gangbangers." He gave me a funny look and I asked him " doe's that mean that the gangbangers here in Ca. don't carry guns? He said "no, they carry." I came back with "you're saying that only their prey are unarmed then." He gave me a dirty look, turned and walked away.

"We don't carry here because OF THE gangbangers."
Say what?
I thoroughly disapprove of duels.
If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand
and lead him to a quiet place and kill him.

What he said didn't make any sense at all to me.
DEMOCRACY IS TWO WOLVES AND A LAMB VOTING ON WHAT TO HAVE FOR LUNCH. LIBERTY IS A WELL ARMED LAMB CONTESTING THE VOTE.

Evidently something was lost in the translation. Are you sure you speak fluent Southern Kalifornian?
On the other hand it may make perfict sense to a Southern Kalifornian.
I'm clinging to my guns and religion.

Maybe his statement means: "Because Californians tend to be criminal in nature, we don't want anyone owning guns or weapons in general."

Just a guess on my part:
I think the guy was essentially saying that the gangbangers involvement with guns there have soured the voting populace into believing that guns = bad. So the voters there tend to vote down CCW or gun-friendly laws, etc, which might make them think that the gangbangers would have even more access to weapons.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME.

No, it was probably someone who really believes that if he carried a firearm his life would be in MORE danger than otherwise. Such is the mindset of sheeple in this state.
It can be surreal at times.
I eventually hope to get a CCW, preferably due to court challenges following Heller. Until then, I try to stay in condition yellow and hope I don't wind up with a knife in a gun fight.

Being from Cal, I'll take a guess. The guy probably meant that gangbangers' criminal use of firearms has led to legislation and procedures that make it more difficult to acquire a permit to carry.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

I was in So. Cal. for a couple of days with my daughter. My guess goes with ppkheat.

I'm think'n that's what he meant. The gang-bangers have soured it for the rest of us. Of course, there are PLENTY of rural counties up north that make it pretty easy to get a permit.
