What part of SC are you in? If you're in the Upstate area a great resource would be Allen Arms.

First, attend an NRA Pistol Instructor class. You can find one at National Rifle Association - NRA Website Gateway. Then call SLED Regulatory at 803-737-9000. Ask them to send you a CWP Instructor application packet. Follow the instructions from there.
Do lots of research from reputable sources such as Mossad Ayoob's books, etc.
Get liability insurance.
Good luck to you and only pass on good info, not BS.

I'm a certified NRA firearms instructor, and I'm also a certified SLED firearms instructor, and also have my CWP. But to answer your question on how to become a CWP instructor, you need to have some type of instructor training, your CWP, and then you'll have to submit a lesson plan on which you intend to teach your class, to SLED. They will review it and if they have any questions they will contact you. It is always good to keep good records of the people your teach, I even have a digital camera that I take a picture of the person standing by their graded target. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Got my CWP instructor certificate in the mail Thurs 3/5. I had great training at DES Training in Ft. Mill. DES Training
