Having just gotten my non-temporary CHP from Virginia, I am now turning my eye to non-resident permits I can get to fill out my state options. My first priority is New Hampshire.
So, my question is, are there any restrictions on who you may put for the 'references'? I'm not exactly keen on telegraphing to people that I am stocking up on CCW permits, so ideally I'd like to only list family members. Will they accept that? Will they accept other people who live at the same address?

No restrictions on who the references have to be. Further than that, if you have any questions, give them a call. They are extremely friendly and helpful. The number should be in the packet/on the form.
They are overworked and understaffed, so you may have to leave a message for them to call you back. It's also being reported to take 1-2 months for processing these days.
They don't care about who the references are.
I think its $25 to the state police. I had a friend from CT that got his in NH and he had it in less than a month.

Thanks! And about calling...yeah, I guess I could have called them, but living in a very anti area I have not had much experience with authorities being particularly helpful on the subject. I guess things are different out there in America :tumbleweed:
I am curious as to why you chose NH first. They are very cheap, but you get better state coverage from UT or FL. The only reason I can see getting a NH is if you need to carry in NH.

Thanks for the reminder that they exist. I was looking at what permits would get me from A to B and am planning to add a FL. and VA. but This would be an easy fix for right now.

I got my NH non-res permit a couple years ago and used my (recently gotten) Utah non-res permit as the qualifier for NH.
It only took 2-3 weeks to get at that time.
I sometimes spend time in NH and the NH permit allows me to carry there whereas the Florida & Utah permits do not.
It's kind of important to notice the states that will not reciprocate with NON-RES permits.
Florida, NH and Mich are some of those NON-RES NON-RECIPROCAL states.
Also - Florida costs $117 for one year and my NH is good for four years.

I have a NH non-resident. Took about a month to get. With my Va resident it gives me most of the south.
That $117 in Florida was good for 5 years and now is 7 on the new ones.Quote:
