    Well, well well...Can I get a ride?

So I had to go to the hospital today since my sister in law all but died. I pulled in and got out and went to head in and my brother in law was coming out.

We met in the parking lot and sure enough this guy starts walking towards me with his hands in his coat pockets.

I dont have my CWP (yet) so I left the P11 in the console of my van. Cant take it into a hospital here anyway.

So what to do? The guy was already about 5 yards away when I yelled, "Hey! Stop! what do you want"?

The guy stops and says "I just checked out of the hospital with pneumonia and I need a ride. Which way are you goin"?

I say "we're going in" and he moves on while shrugging. He hits up another guy walking in about 10 yards away now.

My brother in law said "Damn, you stopped him in his tracks". He thought I just freaked the guy out. I said " Sorry, but I dont need a stranger pan handling me for a ride"

My brother in law said "I bet he wanted more than a ride"

FWIW, My sister in law is gonna be fine. She really needs to quit smoking.

You can carry in the vehicle without CCW?
It is not "might OF", it is "might HAVE". It is not "could OF", it is "could HAVE". Go spread the word.

You can in Fl, as long as it is "completely encased and not easily accessible" . You can put your loaded gun in your glovebox or center console, and you'll be alright. The glovebox/c. console doesn't even have to lock, just close. Glad your s-i-l is okay.

When Missouri passed CCW the law also included a change in vehicle carry law.

Before CCW was passed a loaded gun could only be carried in plain sight in a vehicle.

Now... whether you have a CCW permit or not, anyone is allowed to carry a loaded concealed weapon in your car as long as you are over 21 and legally able to possess a handgun.

Minimum age to obtain a CCW however is 23.

You are also not required to notify LEO's when stopped unless they ask if you have a weapon in your car.

Besides the aforementioned states, also yes in CO. Any legal gun-owner can have a loaded handgun available in the vehicle for self-defense and it "shall not be considered concealed" even if it is. I can't quote the statute for NM, but it's the same there too.

Yup. As long as its in a console or glove box. I drive a Dodge Caravan so I bought one of those console things to go between the seats. Has a spot in there with a sliding door which locks. I leave the key in the lock. Get in the car and put the gun in there and leave it closed but unlocked.

Get pulled over, turn the key just in case LOL. I dont have my DL and insurance in there anyway, just the P11.
