    First trip out CCW

Got my CCW licence on Friday.

I can't match the pictorial Wal-mart trip recently posted. That was great!

I am a woman, finally got around to getting my CCW here in Ohio. Been a target shooter for 25 years, off an on with S&W model 66 and my brother's old Colt 22. Brother was killed in Nam, and I inherited his gun collection. Bought a new Smith 649 snubbie to carry. I'm comfortable with the 66 - had it for a long time, but it's a bit big and heavy to carry for me. At least for now, maybe later... LOL

I have a nerve disease that affects my arms and shoulders and can no longer lift a pistol up to the correct level to shoot - so must have laser sights, so both my S&W have Crimson Trace on now. Didn't shoot for 6 years, and I never thought I could shoot again, till I tried a friend's pistol with the CT. Went the next day and got CT for my 66. Shot a box of 38's through it, then signed up for my CCW class. Even shooting from the low ready position, I had the best groups of anyone I saw in class. With the new Smith, since it weighs less, I can raise it up higher, and if I duck my head a bit, I can sight it the traditional way, so am practicing with it both ways.

Went out Christmas shopping on my first trip out CCW. Meijer, Kohl's , Home Depot, and had to make a stop at Wal-Mart. Desantis pocket holster for now. Still deciding what type holster to try for carrying with my shoulder disability/mobility problems, so the pocket one works for now. Figure it's better than stuffing it in my purse.

Went well - I didn't check on it one time! Never worried about printing. Felt right. I also had my other new toy, a nice little SureFire flashlight. I think I walked a lot less like a target when I was going to the car at 11 p.m. alone. I walk with a limp, and rather slow, so it's important to me not to look like a target.

Glad to be among the "carrying!" Been reading here for a month, now that I have my CCW, finally joined.

    Jules

Congratulations on getting your permit. It's probably better that you didn't eat those nachos anyway.

Congrats to you. Welcome to the site. Be safe and Merry Christmas.
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

    Welcome from Mass.
If you can draw from the pocket, have you thought about appendix carry?

Good deal, I'm glad you found a way to carry and a realistic use for a laser! And you're right, pocket carry is light years ahead of "stuffing it in your purse".

Welcome to the site from a fellow Buckeye. I hope you stick around for a while, there is a ton of info here and truth be told, we could use some more insight from the ladies.
