    CCW Permit

This may sound like a silly question but I live in Virginia and just received my CCW in the mail. It is pretty flimsy and doesn't seem like it will hold up for the duration it is good for. Is there anything against laminating it? I know your not supposed to laminate social security cards and I just wondered if anybody else has laminated their permits to protect it. Thanks for your time.

I've had to laminate mine since I've had one (two times for eight years). This year, things are going to change. It's supposed to be as good as my driver's license. Go ahead and laminate it...otherwise it won't last. And by the way....welcome to the club.

Go ahead and laminate it. I live in the Richmond area, and Henrico County recommends laminating it when you pick it up form the clerks office.

Yep. Laminated is the way to go.

Hopefully one of these days they'll offer a better made permit. And one of these days I'd like to see a lifetime permit, but only time will tell in that regard.

(this thread reminded me, I need to laminate my own permit.)

I'd renew early if they came out with a Lifetime Permit. Wish they would make them the same way as Drivers License with the picture on it as well.

In Clarke County they laminated it for me. Don't forget to sign it first though.

    Suggestion:
Go to a place that does HOT laminating. It's MUCH better than the cold laminating sheets that you stick together at home.
You'll be glad that you did.
Mailboxes does HOT laminating and lots of other places.
    They will laminate anything.

thanks for the tip QKShooter on the hot laminating. A photo on it and a more sturdier card would be nice especially since its good for so long. I like the idea about a lifetime permit. Im only 22 so I would definetely take advantage of that. Thanks again for all the replies and Merry Christmas.

Just don't do what I did with my renewal... I laminated it but forgot to sign it first!
