Sorry, but there are no NON-RES CWP's issued by NY to the best of my knowledge.

Not possible here in NY. Unfortunately, you will not be able to carry.

My understanding, not being a NY resident, is that it is illegal to possess a handgun anywhere in NY without a handgun permit. Since NY only issues said permits to NY residents, it is not possible for a non-resident to legally possess a handgun anywhere in NY, let alone carry one. The only exceptions are LEOs and those traveling though NY while the weapon is unloaded and secured outside the passenger area of the vehicle one is traveling in. If one's destination is NY, one cannot legally possess a handgun at all.

Actually there is one exemption. This is someone covered by the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004.

Good reason to avoid the state, unless it absolutely imperative you go.

Well. . . If you can find a sanctioned handgun match that requires registration you can have your gun legally in NY 48hrs before and 48 hrs after match.

Just have all the paperwork AND shoot the match.

    Okay it is a stretch.

Don't worry come January 20, 2009 that law will be repealed and out of state LEO will not be able to carry either. Thank Obama for that one.
One more step and it's on!
