    Help..Need advice/lawyer referral

I'm a CHL holder...the very first day I put my license in my wallet and my gun into my holster, I realized I needed one more thing... the name and number of a good, experienced LAWYER.
I live in Texas, in Dallas County, and here...the local district attorney has instructed his leo's a standard procedure for almost every single self-defense shooting..."Take em to jail and send em to the Grand Jury!!".
    Any suggestions?

    I'm in agreement with Yoda.

But seriously... all of us, or most of us, regardless of where we live...would be well served, to know a good lawyer, before we actually need one. Kinda like having a gun, before it's actually needed.

On this Forum, in the blue bar go to "Forum Help & Extras." You will find a list of CCW attorneys listed by state. There is an attorney on that list for Dallas.

Can I ask where you got that info? I was a cop here for many years and still know a lot of them. My LEO friends say they have never heard such a thing. A shooting that goes down in a self-defense situation is a lawful shoot. That DA wouldn't make it long here.

Interesting. Since when do the LEO's work for the DA?

The DA does not have LEO's working for them. They have investigators but nothing more.

The firm of Burleson, Pate & Gibson in Dallas has lawyers listed in "Best Lawyers in America" under criminal defense.

To the OP, I believe you have been misinformed. Possibly a scare tactic.

You will be hand cuffed and taken to the station (debriefed)...maybe stay the night, but ONLY if it was a justifiable shoot, all FACTS point that out? You have little worries.

Had a man down my street kill another. Was a good shoot, and he never had any jail time. Just had to go to the station (in cuffs) was debriefed, and was home the next day.

    I'm in Tarrant county.

I hope the DA never has to use his gun in a SD situation.
Of course he has a gun. Don't most people in Texas?

I dont care much for Dallas and try to avoid it. I live near it. But, thanks for the heads up. You wouldnt want to go to 3/4 of Dallas without a gun, thats for sure. I was born in texas, but have always avoided Dallas. Again, the law abiding man gets treated like a gangsta. That is all...
