Do you carry your semi-auto pistol with the "+1"?

When ever I see specs for semi-auto handguns they always say the capacity is 10+1, 12+1, 14+1, etc... Do you ever carry with a full magazine plus one round in the chamber?

I mean do you load your magazine into your gun, chamber a round, eject the magazine, top off the magazine, and re-insert the magazine. I carry my Para Ordnance 14.45 LDA LTD with a full magazine plus one in the chamber (14+1).

I don't. Just because if I have to unload the weapon I can just replace the ejected cartridge back into the mag and not have any loose ones around.
One more step and it's on!

I would bet 95%+ of the answers will be "Yes" to this question.

There is a good quote (which I am going to butcher) about carrying without one in the chamber is about as useful as carrying a rock...both are good to merely throw at an attacker when the SHTF.

Doesn't take up anymore room. Why not?

Would sure be a hell of a thing to not do it and find yourself one round short when you really need it.

If you do that very many times you will end up with bullet setback in the constantly cycled round. It might not happen but if it does you could have a problem on your hand.

Its good to rotate that round into the magazine. I will allow a round to be chambered 2x before it gets buried into the middle of the magazine. My carry ammo gets shot enough that ones in the middle aren't making their way back to the top.

I carry with a full mag +1 in the chamber. Just like I drive my truck with 4 tires on it +1 for the spare. Doesn't make good sense not to.

Out of curiosity...do you carry with a round chambered? I think what the OP was referring to was carrying not just with a round in the chamber, but also a full up mag in the well....

Why not? I'd carry with a 31-round magazine in my G26 if the thing didn't make it impossible to conceal properly

Just because you have extra rounds doesn't mean you have to fire them. If adding more takes up no more space, it seems silly not to.

    Nope.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

yes, +1, then 19 to follow.
    here's my procedure:
    lock slide back
    put fresh round in chamber
    release slide (button or slingshot)
stuff that ol' 19 rounder in
congratulations, I am now carrying 20 rounds of awesome.

I do cycle that first round into the mag. After dropping it in 2-3 times, i will take a fresh one from the mag and put the other back in. Just seems like the right thing to do with a gun that will hold 20 rounds without blinking....
