Ps--If the Iowa Carry bill puts permits through the DPS, it should be killed NOW. We don't need another unelected rules committee deciding what our rights are!

Lets hope it passes and brings reciprocity with Indiana! My brother, sister-in-law, and baby niece live in Iowa and I hate disarming to go see them.

Then there's that pesky Illinios in between...

That's always a pain for me when driving to Michigan.

I have been waiting for this Iowa situation to improve for quite awhile. I drive from Minneapolis to Kansas City about a half a dozen times a year and hate disarming before I cross the Iowa border and then reversing the process when I get to Missouri. Gaining "Shall Issue" status is the first step and hopefully reciprocity is not too far behind.

Yes it would be very nice to get that one added to our list. I am taking a trip to the Springfield mother ship next week - six hour drive but heck my wife and I need a couple of days off. I will be leaving Minnesota, disarming at the Iowa boarder, traveling extensively through there, into the communist state of Illinois - unlocking my guns and taking them in for the work. Will stay over in the quad cities that night, pick up the guns and drive home - unarmed until I get to the Minnesota boarder. Sure doesn't make any sense.

Anyway as I used to say when I went to school there GO IOWA!!!

There's now a second shall issue bill: House File 135 - Introduced, which seems to be a little better than the bill I mentioned in the first post, there is mention of reciprocity, but only IF/FOR states that have equal or greater training requirements than IA.

There is still talk of yet a third bill to be submitted.

Az is a shall issue state and I am still waiting for them to shall issue mine. :)

After the election, a lot of us made a quick dash to take the course and get our CCW permits. There is a huge stack of permits waiting to be issued.

That training requirement (which irks me to no end--clearly contrarty to the RKBA and the protection of the RKBA established by the 2A/14A--but that's another thread) seems to be fairly common in reciprocity provisions. I just hope that the implementation (should it be implemented) is not done in a way that is restrictive.
