I think about you every day bro. I love you man.
That literally brought tears to my eyes. That is also why I carry.

I carry because I would sure feel foolish if I needed it and did not have it. Same with knife, mace, keys, cell phone, etc..

    1. Because I can.

    2. No one wakes up in the morning thinking "I'm about to be a victim of a crime today," yet it happens. I'd rather be prepared and ready to defend myself if ever targeted by a criminal.

I choose to carry because in a situaion of me or my loved ones being put in immediate danger, I want to be able to take enough control of the situation. So that the people I care about and love may walk away, I might not, but I will see it through so much so that they do..

    Thanks Patti!

I poked around Google for a while and only found pro gun and pro self defense references.
I couldn't find who's sermon was being quoted.

I originally read it in "A Nation Of Cowards" by Jeffrey R Snyder.
    That's a good read too.
It’s so much easier now days, to "Love and honor" my wife, when she is armed, and shoots a better group than I do. (Till death do us part, eh?)

“The way you get shot by a concealed weapons permit holder is, you point a gun at him,” the Sheriff said.

Everyone is responsible for their own safety.
Even if an order of protection is issued by the courts, the police have no responsability for your individual safety. The police have no obligation for the safety of individuals (Gonzales v. Castle Rock, US Supreme Court)

Random acts of violence happen, and one should be prepared for them.

Looking out for Numero Uno is your most basic requirement in life.

I carry because one day there might be an out of control dog (or pack of dogs)attacking me or my loved ones or an innocent person or a child and the only way that the dog will stop attacking is by someone with a gun and the skills to use it. ( Please interchange badguy, mugger, burglar, etc. for dog)

If that day never comes, then I will be blessed.
If that day does come and I can protect the innocent (or myself), then I will also be blessed.

I am a newbie also. Even though I have had my CCW license for several years, I've never really felt compelled to carry until recently when my daughter tried to break off a relationship with a boy who turned out to be something of a nutcase. For a while we weren't really sure what he was capable of. I've also become very aware that you can't turn on the news anymore without hearing about someone who decided to walk into a church or a school or a mall and start shooting up the place. I've decided that me and my family will never become victims if I have any say about it.
