Is concealed carry in North Carolina State Parks legal? I can't find anything current online with regards to the change which affected National Park carry status applying to state parks. On the park website itself it says no firearms, and of course nothing about CCW is mentioned. I don't think it has recently been updated for anything at all except hours. Please advise, thanks!

NO they are off limits as far as I know. Pilot Mountain State Park has large signs before you enter saying no firearms or weapons!! Please join Grass Roots of NC, no organization is working harder to change some of our rediculous gun laws. At the very least sign up for the alerts, but it would be great if you join us. I could do that, sad to hear that our parks are a no no, I moved out here from CA so the improvement in gun laws are a definite positive, but we'll just have to work and move forward on improving them a little more.

Long story short, that rule was changed within a few months to allow Florida CCL holders to carry in all parks, and wildlife preserves. The only restriction is that when it’s not hunting season, we have to carry concealed.
So, my advice is to contact your state legislature, and make sure they are aware of the problem. I’d be willing to bet they are unaware of the issue, or if they are, they will be willing to change it.

Your story is a classic example of how misinformed most of our elected represenatives are. It would be laughable, if it weren't so sad.
I find this lack of knowledge to be common, especially in elected represenatives and supervisors. The higher you go, the further removed from the one's you represent or supervise you are.
