24th Street and Broadway is crime central in Phoenix.
You are 100% correct on that one. I am amazed that the joker had something as small as .22. I wouldn't get anywhere close to 24th and Broadway with less than a hand cannon. There is some validity to carrying something that starts with a .4 in that part of town.

If it doesn't make sense, it isn't true (according to Judge Judy). How does a gun fall out of your pocket while you are walking to the mailbox? Aren't pockets supposed to keep stuff in them while you're standing up? Maybe he had his pants on upside down. OR maybe he accidentally shot his kid in the arm and blamed it on the pocket/gun.

I'm betting there were more Homies involved in that neighborhood.

That whole story sounds fishy to me. Lots of members on this forum have pocket carried for years and never had an AD. Horseplay with a firearm sounds more like it to me.

That makes it even more of a tragedy. My holster is counted as a safety. My G26 does not come out of holster except at range, to go in safe, or in self defense.

plus one. something is not right with the story. i feel that the dropped gun story is "bs" to cover up that the father was playing around with the gun and pulled the trigger.

    Father accidentally shoots 3-year-old son

    The Arizona Republic
A father accidentally shot his 3-year-old son Friday afternoon at a home near 24th Street and Broadway Road.

The child was walking to the mailbox when his father's .22-caliber handgun fell out of his pocket and fired, Phoenix police said. The gun fired one round, which hit the child on the arm.

The child was transported to the hospital, and the father is being interviewed by Phoenix police.

Phoenix police have not yet determined whether they will be pressing charges.

No further information was immediately available.
That's just plain stupidity. There's probably more to this story that's been conveniently left out.

I thought Mexican carry meant IWB without a holster.
Maybe, in this politically-correct age we live in, a better term for this would be "Burris carry"...

Their is no problem with pocket carry, maybe it's the ''carrier'' that has a problem. No carry type is safe in the hands of an idiot.

If the story is true, then not only was the moron carrying in his pocket without a holster, but he had a really cheap gun too. I varry my G26 in a Nemesis Pocket holster, and it won't fall out on it's own. However, even if it did, it wouldn't fire! I've had my XD 45 fall out of my fanny pack, and it didn't fire either. So, the story is either off, or the gun was a (explicative deleted).
