Help Me With A Rebuttal To This Comment
Had another on a seperate forum say this:
"So it's cool that you guys are into guns for collecting, marksmanship, hunting and whatnot, but if you feel you need one for protection, did it dawn on you that you might also need a bullet proof vest?
This fella beleives that it's silly for me to carry a gun around for protection since I've never needed it before AND this is from a guy who just recently went through an armed robbery on him. I know him pesronally and this guys only guns he has are toy guns...like a BB gun and super soakers and this dude was in the military.

Well then I guess we don't need health insurance or fire extinguishers, or fire alarms, or locks on doors, or ...

I have life insurance too but I've never needed it.
Seriously, with his military background and the armed robbery there probably isn't anything you can do. If he has learned yet then he isn't going to.

geez, did you ask him to remove his seat belts in his car? are just his airbags adequate? does he have fire insurance on his house? health insurance? own any fire extinguishers?
seeing as how he was involved in a robbery.....he kinda thick-skulled or what?

Sounds like he hasn't grown up yet - let him stick with his super soakers.

Ask him if you can take out his airbags in his car since he has never needed them before. You can sell them and get a couple guns!

Wearing of firearms for defensive purposes is separate from the vest issue.
That said it is fair to say that wearing a vest is probably a good idea but also not likely practical for most people.

To thick to get it. Maybe a smack to the side of the head will help.
As the old saying goes. I rather have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

Nice one. +1 I'd also ask him if he knows where I can buy a "bullet proof vest".
A 9mm might expand but a .45 will never shrink enough to fit 17 in the magazine.

The first rule of a gunfight: "Don't be there !"
The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

Tell him to go ahead and wear a vest. I, however, intend to shoot back.
If he wants to just catch bullets, thats his prerogative.

So I only need to be worried about being shot in my chest? What about my head?

No. I can survive being shot, or the odds favor it, perhaps I should say. I live by the Rule of Stupids. I train so that if need be, I will be able to put more lead into the other guy while moving out of his line of fire.
I have a vest. I don't go to the places it would be required anymore.
