Now I can answer your question. Returned to my house in NC from a business trip tonight and had a voicemail on the home phone from a sheriff's deputy. The permits for the missus and me are ready to pick up. 50 days in Wake County. Picking it up tomorrow - look for me to be carryin'.

I got a call the other day from a deputy . . . but it was for a reference check on a friend's permit to purchase.
Day 79 and still waiting for my carry permit in New Hanover County.
EDIT: When I got home this evening I had a letter from the New Hanover County Sheriff's office dated 2/24 stating that my permit was ready for pickup. Apparently it costs less for them to mail a letter than it does to call.
So let's call it 77 days for a permit in New Hanover County.

The Deputy here in Alexander county said they would send a letter. A phone call would be more personal. But then again we only have around 7 people working in the Sherriff's office here.

Just got my renewed permit here in New Hanover County this week. Took 86 days from the day I turned everything in.

Guilford County Update:
There was a 200+ person backlog in Guilford County as of May 1st. It took over 3 weeks just to get my appointment scheduled, and this morning when I showed up to do the paperwork and prints, the clerk said that it will be right around 90 days to receive the permit.
Good thing my Florida CCL is valid up here.

I was told 8-12 weeks in Alamance County. Ended up 6 weeks and that was after being denied for error on record.
