Never argue with an idiot - they'll bring you down to their level then beat you with experience.
Be careful Puerto Rico is beautiful but dangerous. Lots of violent street crime, muggings, assaults, etc. Stick to the beaten path, esp at night.
If you're an LEO the LEOSA 2004 (HR218) allows you to carry in PR on your badge and ID.
I just got back from San Juan last week. I felt naked without my CC weapon mainly due to the third-world flavor of the city. That being said, I had no problems for the 3 day stay and found the majority of the people friendly. Just follow the advice from above regarding staying away from the non-tourist areas especially after dark and you should be fine. Be sure to tour the historic forts; and the Bacardi factory tour is well-worth your time if you drive to it. Enjoy!
thanks for the info guys, I guess I'm out of luck.![]()

We do a bunch of work down there. San Juan can be seedy in places so just be alert. It starts to get really 3rd world when you go to smaller towns like Mayaguez and Ponce on jobs. Some of our crew are from there and local escorts are a good idea if at all possible. If you are in San Juan, stay in the tourist areas and the old city area. You should have some fun once you get acclimated.
2A is not negotiable
I live in San Juan for a number of years and it's NOT that bad. Common sense rule applies. If you're out at 3AM when trouble brews, you're not following the rule.
Just there for a few days a couple of weeks ago. All was well. Same things happening....new Gov, political figures being indicted for corruption and horrendous traffic accidents.
