When I send important government documents, I usually go to the post office and do certified mail with a return receipt. That way you know they received it. Where I live, I had to turn my application in by hand.

I took the class Saturday and our instructor said if you are going to mail it send it certifed mail. I am dropping my packet off today at the DPS headquarters since I only work about 2 blocks from there.

In Texas, how soon you get the application to Austin won't have much too much impact on how long it takes to get back to you in the mail. I took my class Jan. 10, mailed it Jan. 12, and got a notice Feb. 5 that my paperwork was processing. They gave me a web site to check and a PIN number to use -- and as of today, it still simply says, Processing Application. No details.

Dont know about express but I guess you could send it return receipt. I just mailed mine as checked my bank for the check to clear. That is when the time starts as far as I can gather.
Congrats on getting it done and make sure you let us know when it arrives.

The reason I sent mine in CMRRR (certified mail, return receipt requested) was not for speed, but to have proof that they actually received it.
It was just a little peace of mind....

I have had mailed it out along with certified receipt and Return receipt recently. Now I'm waiting to recieving permit.

Yep, it took right about 90days for me.

Well congratulations!!! One of the men I used to work for took his back in June 2008, and sadly to say he got the license in the mail early December. So expect a wait as far as I can tell.

in Michigan, we need to take the application to the county clerks office. No need to mail.
