Well the wife's permit and my renewal both came in the mail today, the way I count it, it was 66 days from the date it was mailed.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Sent my app in Nov 16 08 recieved Jan 16 09. But it sat in my office buried uner junk mail. My wife put it ther thinking I would go through the junk mail and see it. It laid there for 3 weeks before I asked her if she saw it come in the mail. " Oh yah it's on your desk. I thought you saw it." A few choice word followed from me. I liv ein Dallas but have lived in Galveston prior. No problems from hurricane Ike. I think that's an excuse when the DPS is behind. The PD and county offices were back up and running 3 days after the storm. So the mora of my story is make sure your wife knows to put it in your hands when it arrives and not on your desk!

Mine took 78 days in Jan of 08. Lol, shoot a lot it helps. As for your wife, I had mine pick out a .22 she liked and started shooting. She liked the idea of shooting with me. She now has her ownXDsc9... she does not want to carry, but she does not mind me carrying....and I get to shoot a lot more, lol

Hey guys i'm still new here but i have a little idea of how long it will take for you guys to see the status change for your license. I took the class and sent in my stuff a week before Thanksgiving of 2008. As of right now I checked the status and it says "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active". So hopefully it wouldn't be much longer until it gets here.

What does everyone else do to take their minds off the wait??

My record is squeaky clean so hopefully I can zip through without any snags.
Anyone in Texas just recently get their CHL? Would be interested to know how long it is currently taking.......
Try not to think about it everyday. Just do what you normally do. I just pretended that i never sent it in or took the class. LOL. Hopefully the DPS catches up. I just saw my status change and I did all this before Thanksgiving in 2008.

Packet was sent on 12-15 ...
Took a month to get into the system.
1-18 got the dreaded "missing information", Picture too dark, addresses overlap.
1-24 overnighted the corrected info/new pics.

Emailed asking is everything needed was received and asked about the "reset" of time to process. Reply:

"We have received the missing information. The time does get reset. It
does not necessarily mean that it will take the full 60 days. That is
just the time we are now allotted. "

Expecting the worst, maybe March sometime :(

Mailed my application to DPS on Feb 18th. Believe me I have none patience to wait LOL. To kill some time, go to shoot range, start carry firearm in my home, outside in my property. I'm trying to quit staring at my mailbox! LMAO.
