    TN permit

My first post for this site.

Looks like TN has the most recognized permits. And TN recognizes all other stateís permits. Maine has one of the worse recognized. And only recognizes MN! Happy to be a TN permit holder. And, almost embarrassed to be from Maine.

Maine needs to work on reciprocity. I wasn't aware that they recognized any other states permits. They also have very undefined knife laws. I think they just copied what other states had done and modified them rather than starting from scratch. Very confusing.
Being peaceful does not guarantee peace, strength and a willingness to commit violence when needed does.

(* Vermont (VT) & Alaska (AK). Anyone who can legally own a firearm can carry it concealed. No Permit/license is required.

Welcome to the forum. Being from Maine isn't so bad, at least they are allowed to carry there. Better than IL and WI.

Welcome from Arlington TN....just down the road a few miles from Collierville!

Yep, Tennessee has, in my opinion, the best permit in the country. It is not a Concealed carry permit, it is a Handgun Carry Permit. Open carry is legal and in Tennessee, LEO's can not take your permit from you, and they can not legally disarm you once they have established that you are a permit holder and are not breaking the law. So if you open carry and a Sheep calls the police because you have a gun, once the police get there and establish that you have a permit, they can not take your gun, they can ask you to take it off, they can not take it off of you and just put it in their car "for their safety", none of that BS is legal in TN.

Other than the stupid restaurant carry law crap, which may very well get fixed this year, it's a pretty good gun law state.

    Maine's a nice place, but

    The reason I mention Maine:
Every November, I go to camp in northern Maine. I stop in Pennsylvania, field strip my hand guns. Lock the slides in one box, the frames and mags in another box and ammo in a third box. Donít put them back together until I get to camp. Major pain!

Maine is far from the worst. But, at least up north, there are not a lot of left wing antigun extremist. So, hard to explain. I understand Massachusetts, and New York and some of the little states inhabited antigun folks. But very annoyed about my home state.
