    Playing the waiting game

My wife and I just got back form the sherriff's office filled out our paperwork and got finger printed, payed our fees and are now waiting..
The deputy said it could take up to 90 days, but if we hadn't heard from him by Easter to call or come by and he would check on it for us.
All in all I found it to be an easy process, the class instructor was very knowledgeable and personable, gave each 'student' individual advice and instruction at the range, if needed. He covered alot of the different holsters and carry options available. He even covered defensive lights, batons, and pepper sprays.
The deputy was very busy today getting people the purchase permits and taking care of whatever other business they were there for. When we got to the window his whole attitude changed, he slowed down and was very personable, although very professional as well.
Got to love the small town attitude. Laid back and easy.

That is DEFINITELY not the "typical" wait time in NC. It varies from county to county but the average seems to be 45-60 days with several areas taking every second of the 90 days and then some.

I'm on day 76 in New Hanover County.

Cool! Enjoy the waiting time...learning all you can on DC, hitting the range, and pick up some vids on tactics, etc.

Since I really have nothing better to do while at work I went through the NC permit thread and recorded any wait time that was specific first-hand and current. I ignored the "It only took me 2 weeks 4 years ago but I heard it takes 60 now" posts.

Out of 18 definite times the high was 90 days, the low was 17.5 days (Said 2.5 weeks) and the average was 62 days.

    Have fun . . .

I realize that it may the full 90 days. I have been here for awhile and reading just not posting much. I get times where I don't get on the computer or net for weeks or a few months at a time though so it is somewhat sporadic. I have learned alot here already and look forward to learning more.

I was originally told 4-5 weeks. What I was trying to relay was that it could be sooner then they tell you. He may get lucky and get in on a lull in the processing that may allow him to get processed faster.
