Love handles
Do love handles dictate the way you carry? I know I for one have a hard time drawing from an IWB holster because of the ol' love handles. So I carry OWB. How about you guys? Do love handles slow your draw down? Or do you have a secret to avoid this problem?

I decided to carry OWB because of my size I never tried IWB but felt it would be to uncomfortable and hard to draw from.

I am going to exercise my 5th Amendment rights, your honor.
Extra weight may absolutely affect all aspects of concealed carry. Bulges and curves can be painful barriers to form fitting one's body to a gun. Ask any woman, regardless of BMI about holster fit. Training and practice can overcome some of that. On the other hand, a 6'2" 300lb person can hide a 1911 easier than a 5' 98lb person. Simple matter of available real estate.

Depending on how big a person is... wouldn't love handles sometimes be considered EXTRA concealment? I could see the draw possibly being a little difficult though.

I work around the 'handles'...SOB carry/palm out draw...
Actual carry is over the right kidney, not the spine.

OWB... Has nothing to do with size even though Im a tad overweight right now. There really isnt too much reason to go IWB with a smaller pistol and a proper OWB holster.

Well there are love handles and then there are Do-laps.
I have what I consider love handles -- too large of love handles at that, this time of year.
I carry IWB (even shirt tucker IWB) in warmer weather, with-out problem.
As always YMMV.

Love handles? I don't have any love handles, yet
Maybe a little bit of hip fluff and curves that used to be straight lines.
Having been very poorly assembled at the body factory, I have challenges. Somehow the short person torso got mixed in with the long arms and legs, then the barrel belly ended up in the mix, and later other parts aah, well, developed.
A lady friend of mine and I were chatting about figure problems and she told me being built like two watermelons balanced on a beer keg, supported by stilts, she wasn't surprised I had trouble getting clothes to fit.
IWB is not an option with bony hips, even though the soft tummy should hide what shouldn't be seen. I've learned the art of camoflauge and long loose shirts have been part of my wardrobe for a long time, perfect to cover anything in an OWB that needs to remain hidden.

It really depends where your body fat lies. I'm 6-1, 260#, but my extra weight is out front. I have no problem doing a 1911 or G31 IWB at 3:30. If you've got the spare tire all the way around, it might be different.
Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse.

same as previous posts, depends where you carry your weight. I have love handles but mostly in the front. I can carry at 3:30 without any issues... ok maybe 4 oclock :)

My right love handle has the groove for the grip of my G30SF.

I had plastic surgery to remove the shape of my gun from my love handles.
The facts are indisputable. There is more data supporting the benefits of Conceal Carry than there is supporting global warming. If you choose ignorance, in light of all the evidence, in order to bolster your irrational fear of guns, you are a greater threat to society than any gun owner.
