    Questions for you Virginians

I have a NC CHP that is reciprocated in your lovely state. I travel around VA extensively. I was reading the handgun.us site and found a notice that the Dulles Toll Road is owned by the same governmental agency that runs Dulles and Reagan-National.

Is cc in my car on the Dulles Toll Road allowed? I don't often use it to get to Dulles, but I drive it frequently between the Beltway and Reston, and don't want to stop to disarm simply to drive for eight or ten miles.

If you allow me another quick question: Like NC you can't take your ccw into a restaurant that serves alcohol for consumption. If I need to meet someone in such a place, obviously, I leave the weapon in the car. If I decide to have a beer, do I need to lock it in the trunk and remove all the ammo?

I will always put my weapons away before I entertain having an adult beverage.

    Your thoughts/experiences?

Don't know about Dulles, but as far as a restaurant goes...just do the Virginia Tuck.

It is OK to OC in said restaurant, just not CC (yet).

    Wow - the Virginia Tuck...

As a real n00b to cc, I find it jaw dropping to think of waltzing into a crowded restaurant in NoVA with my Kimber on my hip.

You should not have any problems on the Dulles Toll Road. You are not going into the secure terminal.
Carried on the road for years.

    Mac,

You'd be truly surprised to learn how few people care. VCDL has done an outstanding job informing the public, especially about how the state REQUIRES you to OC (dumb law).

The toll road is fine for carrying, it is a secured area of the passenger terminal you cannot carry in. As Free American said, the Virginia tuck works in restaurants. Make sure you look for signs posting the restaurant as prohibited before doing the tuck and entering. I have been doing it for 10 years in the Richmond area and no one has ever said a thing to me.
