All that land, so few people!
I'm surprised the ratio isn't higher.

The stats for the map were compiled by the Montana Shooting Sports Association.

You guys in the other states should contact your appropriate State Association to see if they do something similar.

Good to see a map like this. We're thinking of moving to Montana for retirement and looking for about 150-200 acres. This will help in seeing where the friendlies are located.

According to MCGRO, there are currently approximately 184000 CPL holders. I think MI has about 12.5 million soles - so just under 1.5%. If I have the population wrong, then - - never mind.

The density will be higher because the 1 million people includes under 21 which would be 25% or so ~ 2.56%.

    MN is ~ 1.5%.

    From CityData.Com
    Estimated 2006 population: 10,095,643
So, your percentage is a bit low... more like 1.823%. Give or take a few dozen.

ETA: Found a Census estimate for 2007 that had us around 10,071,800. Percentage is higher yet.
