Perhaps we should all attend small churches where we know all our fellow parishioners. Perhaps if someone had approached the stranger in Illinois before services to welcome him and try to befriend him (a common act in tiny rural churches) he would have been recognized as mentally unstable and stopped before he could have drawn. Many of the articles I see written about this shooting say over and over "none of the people attending services that morning knew the stranger". He was the Grey Man in a crowd of 150 Christians.
I am NOT blaming the victims nor saying this church was rude, but I wonder when the media keeps repeating "no one knew him" how that could happen......how 150 Church-going Brothers and Sisters were too busy to notice the deranged stranger who reportedly showed up at 5:30am for 8am services?
The lord works in mysterious ways. I pray for the families and the victims.
