If loose gun laws are good for criminals why do criminals support gun control?

I'm a Texas resident as well, awaiting an opportunity to take my CHL class. I carry in my glove box, and I don't inform the LEO unless he asked. I've been stopped a few times, and I haven't felt the need to make mention of it. If it isn't required, I see no sense in doing it.

I'm allowed to carry cigarettes, soft drinks, an mp3 player, etc., etc., and I don't inform them of those items that I am also able to legally possess.
Our kindness may be the most persuasive argument for that which we believe.

    I live in Texas.

My license expires in a few days and I will not have a CHL for two months until I receive my new one.

I have just read section 46.02.

From what I understand: If I do not have a CHL, I am allowed to conceal on my person in my car and premises. Correct me if I'm wrong?

If I do not have a CHL. And I am going to eat at someone else's restaurant, I can conceal in my car? But I must leave my gun in the car when I enter the restaurant?
