Press Conference to Kick Off Massive Gun Rights Rally at Illinois State Capitol
SPRINGFIELD, Ill., March 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):

WHAT: Press conference kicking off the 2009 edition of IGOLD - the
    Illinois Gun Owners' Lobby Day

    WHEN: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2009

WHERE: The Illinois State Capitol Building "Blue Room"

WHO: Richard Pearson, Executive Director, Illinois State Rifle
Association. Representative Brandon Phelps (D-118). Senator Bill
Brady (R-44). Representatives of Illinois' sporting arms industry.

An estimated 2,000 law-abiding firearm owners are expected to meet Wednesday at the State Capitol to protest gun control measures pending before the Illinois General Assembly. The event, expected to be the largest gun-rights rally held in the Midwest, will begin with a 10:00 AM capitol press conference. The press conference will feature legislators, industry representatives, and ISRA officials who will discuss efforts to derail gun control legislation currently before the legislature. During the press conference, Rep. Brandon Phelps will be recognized as the ISRA Legislator of the Year.

Following the press conference will be an 11:00 AM teach-in session at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center. At about 1:30 PM, attendees will march on the Capitol building and hold a rally at the Lincoln Steps. When the rally concludes, participants will enter the Capitol to attend committee hearings and lobby individual representatives to express their opposition to state-wide gun control measures being pushed by the Chicago delegation. The day ends with a 4:00 PM reception at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center.

The ISRA is the state's leading advocate of safe, lawful and responsible firearms ownership. Since 1903, the ISRA has represented the interests of millions of law-abiding Illinois firearm owners.

You mean Illinois CHP holders don't have a separate entrance, so they can carry w/o backing up the at the main entrance's metal detectors, as we do here in Virgina?

    Sarcasm & joking aside.

    It sounds great.

Maybe some day we can get an "estimated 2,000 law-abiding firearm owners" to turn out for our annual rally at the State House.

Wish you success with the legislative agenda.

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.

I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.
