SC CWP applicants on Active Duty
Just wanted to share. If you're stationed in SC, you can apply for a CWP using military training. You'll need a memo signed by your CDR stating you've received the necessary training (PM me for details if you need them), the standard CWP application from SLED, a copy of your PCS orders, the 1"x1" picture, a copy of your ID card and out-of-state license, the $50 money order (payable to SLED) and 2 fingerprint cards.
After asking on 4 separate phone calls, I was told I wouldn't need them since I'm on active duty. Well, my packet was mailed back to me along with 2 fingerprint cards. Needless to say, I went and got myself printed and everything's back in the mail.
Hopefully this can save someone else a week or so of time in the future.

Not sure what branch your in, but AF used to issue a small arms certification card. That should do in place of a letter from your commander. The less the military knows about your activities off duty the better. I was active duty for 24 years, and told very little of what my off duty activities were.

I'm Army. Never heard of any kind of card like that for us. I hear where you're coming from, though, on everybody not knowing everything you do off duty.
