I tried searching and came up with nothing. Are the Gatornationals considered a sporting event?? If so can I at least leave it in the vehicle? I'd hate to drive all the way to Gainesville disarmed!!
Thanks =)

I had a FL CHL a few years ago so things may have changed. You should be OK to leave it in your vehicle.

I'm gonna piggy-back onto this one.
I am heading to Florida next week. I will be at a "sporting event" for most of the week (during the day) and don't want to leave my gun in the motel. I am a participant in the sporting event so our vehicles will be inside the grounds of where the event is taking place.
I don't intend to carry at the event but if I put the gun in a backpack that isn't on my person will I be ok? The backpack will be inside the grounds of the event.
The "athletic event" prohibition is for concealed carry. If your weapon remains in your car, the statutes as they apply to carry in your vehicle would apply. As such, enclosed in your backpack and locked in your vehicle will be just fine. Just leave it alone.....
Good timing.....weather is beautiful right now. Bring the swimsuit and sunscreen!

I assure you there won't be any swimming on my trip. I'll be smack dab in the middle of Central Florida on a big patch of concrete for a week. ;)
But you are right - The weather has always been nice in mid-March down there. I've been doing this trip for a lot of years.

are things like car shows off limits say at the daytona speedway? it takes place in an athletic arena but there no sport going on?
people go to shows with large amounts of cash in anticipation for finding their dream car etc.

thanks for the replies. People tend to panic once the pits get crowded then a top fuel car fires up and covers everyone in nitro-methane, so I guess I'll play it safe and leave it in the car. I'd hate for someone to bump into it while trying to get away from the smoke and freak out!

The Gator Nationals, according to my understanding, is not a 'car show', but rather 'professional racing'...thus, no 'bang-bang'...keep it in your trunk.
Stay armed...'coming and going'...stay safe!
