    Spare Mag showing

Saturday I was walking around Ft Collins, CO with my wife. I had my Kimber in a IWB Super Tuck with a polo shirt tucked in which gave me pretty good cover. I also had a light jacket on which really gave me concealment.

We stopped for lunch, my wife sat next to me on my strong side and I removed my jacket. I knew I was still covered, then about half way through the Fish and Chips I realized I had my spare magazine on the other hip in a OWB holder. I reached back and slipped the spare in my back pocket, waited a few seconds and looked around, I do not believe anyone noticed.

People really do not pay attention. In the future I plan to match my IWB holster with my IWB mag carrier so this does not happen again.

I don't worry about a magazine showing unless the whole thing, including the base plate is exposed. Only someone knowledgeable about carry gear would really know what it was otherwise. Like you say, people don't really pay attention. If I had a dollar for every story I've read about someone open carrying and no one noticing...

I live in Fort Collins. It sounds like (as usual) everyone was oblivious to their surroundings.

    Hello Neighbor,

Windsor CO here myself, and not so patiently waiting on my CCW permit. I have been to the range east of Greeley quite frequently lately and have been in open carrying when traveling to and from. I have stopped for a burger, gas, even to the convience store.

Every time I would get out of my vehicle I would just tuck my sweatshirt over the inside of the holster. Black Beretta, black holster, and a black sweatshirt and jeans. I have not ever heard a comment or think anyone noticed even open carrying. My IWB gear is on the way, so that will even make it less obvious.

I think open carry is probably less concerning here than in a larger metro area. I have seen other people open carry too, and didnt think anything bad about it myself, or anyone else be concerned.

Stay safe, keep your powder dry.

You are correct, people do not pay attention to what is going on around them. I once had my shirt ride up exposing my gun while seated in a restaurant. I slowly pulled my shirt over the gun. Nobody seemed to have seen a thing.

While others often don't notice, sometimes they do.

One of the few times I'm "certain" I was made in over 20 years of carrying, was in a CVS or similar store. When I overheard two women, I realized they were talking about me, and realized my jacket had snagged on/behind a Galco double mag carrier, and two 1911 mags (stainless steel) with the tan carrier were completely exposed. The older black lady said to the other "well, he'd better have something, if he's got all that", or words to that effect. I ignored them (they weren't talking to me) and freed my jacket and went about my business.

It happens. Fortunately, OC is legal here (though no one seems to realize that!).
    Regards, T Bone.

I guess that I need some education. Is it illegal ANYWHERE to openly display a magazine?

Gang members in CA may not posses loaded magazines. Other than that, I don't think displaying a magazine gets you into trouble.

Keep 'everything' concealed...it's really in your best interest.

Not illegal, I would rather keep everything concealed so the BGs do not know I am armed keep the tactical advantage.
