My wife's turn around...
I've always wanted my ccw permit, but life has kept me busy. I've talked some with my wife about it over the past 10 years, and we've shot a .22 revolver and several .22 rifles over the last 2 years. Didn't own any guns ourselves.
Her little sister got involved with a sex offender, and suddenly my wife asked me what it takes to get a ccw permit! So I found this forum and a couple others and all the info for Utah Concealed Firearms Permit.
We took the class Mid Febuary and bought our guns, a matching pair of XD subcompact 9mm, We are waiting on the permits, probably another month or so.
After buying the guns, my wife suddenly became very nervous about actually carrying hers, much less shooting hers. So I signed her up for an NRA Basic Handgun Course. The first night, a week ago, was all .22 revolver and .22 semi autos. She came home still nervous, but more confident.
She wanted to fire her 9mm with me before her second half of the class so she wouldn't make a fool of herself. I took her to the range on Saturday and she did great.
Last night was her second half of the class. She enjoyed shooting her 9mm last night and had the opportunity to fire an XD 45 acp.
She LOVED it! She came home and couldn't stop talking about the 45! Now she wants one for her "next" gun! I was floored!
NEXT gun? I don't mind, but I sure wasn't expecting HER to be the one pushing for more guns!

You're a lucky man!
Now you must convince her that new guns should always be bought in purchases of 'two'...

Very cool thing coriantan on how you wife has come along on her own. I would encourage her to become a member of this forum as well. Even if she doesn't want to post here, there is a wealth of great information on carrying a weapon for defense.
Obviously professional training is the way to go, but at least here, you get other peoples opinion and experiences on what they have encountered. Oh, there can be some very "heated" discussions, but it is always informative and this is a clean place. Family oriented... at least as family oriented as you can be and still talk about lethal force.

Congrats Coriantan, where did she take that class? I'd be interested in getting my wife into it.
