Although I posted this in another thread, I want to repeat it here.

I got an email reply to the one I sent the head of the Dept. of Ag, to let him know what a great job some of his people were doing. I was assured that copies of my email had been forwarded up and down the chain.

It's too easy to complain, for some, its a hobby. I just thought it was important to let him know that I appreciated the good work being done on behalf of the citizens of FL.

    Congratulations Mike,

The choice to carry concealed shows your opinion to not become one of the Sheeple, just waiting for the Wolf to pounce on you. The sheep herders are few and the Wolves are many so we Sheep Dogs have an important responsibility.

Your legal right to carry will now add more fuel to the fire, to let the Wolves know that we are no longer willing, to be at their mercy. Hopefully, they will move on to the states that still are not allowing legal concealed carry.

I am NO stranger to the local range! And I took the sage advice from Forum members, which was to start carrying right off the bat at home, to get used to it, while finding out what carry method worked best for me.

Just part of what makes this Forum, the best!

Lemme' think. . . I'm pretty sure I mailed my package off on Dec. 15 or 16, was in my mailbox last Friday, the 17th of Feb.

Had one delay because my electronic fingerprints got there a day or two ahead of my application, and another delay due to a 30 year-old note on my "rap sheet."

Once they decided to issue the permit, I was told it would take 7 to 14 days to actually get it. But it only took 5 days.

Not bad, the card is hard plastic like a credit card, has your picture on it, and some hologram images of the state on it. Very high-tech!

Approx. 2 mo. wait...not all that bad. I'm located here in Monroe County, NY and have been waiting the last 6 months. Process is currently taking 9 months. Talk about absurd. Hoping to join the ranks someday soon. Enjoy and congrats once again!

slimjim,my Westchester county permit took almost a year and it's restricted to target. If I was in Orange county(10 miles from me) it would be unrestricted.Insanity if you ask me.I also have my Florida non-res,it took just about 45 days mailbox to mailbox. It's sad that a state I don't reside in trusts me to carry a firearm, but my home state dosen't.We are in bad shape in NY.If the current bills that just passed the assembly in NY pass in the state senate,we will be left with close to nothing. So far i've written all 61 senators and about 45 replied in a positive way towards gun owners.

    slimjim,

    NEVER give up!

    AO1911,

Most have no trouble getting the permit in FL. If there is a possible problem, I have a talent for finding it.

I don't know how common it is among the other States, but Fl only recognizes other State's resident licenses. FL does not seem to recognize other State's non-resident permits.

I guess that's to keep a FL resident that cannot get the State permit to carry in FL from carrying with a non-resident permit from another State. They don't want anyone to pull an "end run" on them.

Such a FL resident could carry in whatever State they held the non-resident permit in, but not back home in FL.

    Ao1911....

I grew up in Westchester co. I know it is rediculous to obtain down there. I am glad I moved. What I would do is take a specialized gun/training course, show the certificate to a judge, and ask for the restriction to be removed. I have heard from others that this has worked. Good luck.
