Long time lurker, first time poster.
Figured my first post should be a WW Walk, so here is my official story and WWW.
Back before the Presidential Elections, my brother-in-law convinced me to take the Texas CHL course with him - "The laws may change... might as well get your license now just in case legislation makes things tough." (I am paraphrasing of course). We took the class and I waited the 'mandatory' 3 months to get my license. After my CHL came in the mail, it seemed to be the worst of times to get my first handgun... I had lost my job and the economy was (is) in no place to have me spending mortgage money on anything but the bare essentials (no flames on how weapons are essential, please).
It seemed as though I was the only person in Texas with a CHL and no damn weapon! Long story short, I have finally joined the ranks... with a new Springfield XD-M .40!
After ordering (and receiving) my SmartCarry Holster, *my Crossbreed Supertuck is on order* I had to take a trip to the local Wal-Mart for some light shopping.
The trip to the ammo case was disappointing to say the least (as if I expected anything less). While I was standing and staring blankly into the ammo case, no less than 3 Wally Employees approached me asking if there was anything they could help me with. None of them were able to cough up any .40 S&W. As I walked away from the Sporting Goods department and through the Auto department, another associate asked me if he could help me - the new WalMart must be offering commission!
I picked up some gun oil and finished my light grocery shopping. My SmartCarry is going to take some getting used to (still uncomfortable), but I always felt as if I was completely concealed while wearing it (even with the large XDM and spare mag).
My WalMart has a Subway, so no NACHOS - even though TexMex is the state standard... I went home and grilled some chops instead.
Thanks to all of you for keeping defensivecarry.com alive - there are some truly good people here (with mostly good advice ).
Keep safe and at the ready!
Congrats. Sorry you missed out on the nachos. (and ammo)
When you've got 'em by the balls, their hearts & minds will follow. Semper Fi.
Congrats... you should be getting your official DefensiveCarry Badge in the mail tomorrow morning.
Welcome to the fold!
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.
Ego will kill you. Leave it at home.
Congrats on the new gun and the WW.
Luck is not a feeling it's a way of life
Let me get this straight--in the course of your visit you had 4 (!!!) WW employees ask you if you needed help?! If I go to one of those stores I'm lucky to find someone with an ammo shelf key-- you're right they must be offering commission!
Congrats on your (Great State of) Texas CHL and welcome to the forum!

Did you complete your Wally World Bingo card??
CCW permit holder for Idaho, Utah, Pennsylvania, Maine and New Hampshire. I can carry in your country but not my own.
I've never even seen 4 WW employees in one trip.
Welcome from Colorado.
LoL. Holy Empty Shelves. LoL. I know it is getting hard to find what you need. Even all the online suppliers are sold out now.

I found the smartcarry though effective for me at least was a little uncomfortable with my G23. It does work but I'm purchasing a Kahr PM9 for the smartcarry and putting the G23 back on my hip where it belongs.
Welcome Zerodogman to the Fraternal order of Orvis Canis.
Welcome from Las Vegas, Nevada.

I had the same result on my first WWW. I found no 9mm ammo at all at my closest WM. Now I make a point of visiting at least one WM if I'm in the area. I work in various parts of Vegas throughout the week. The one I passed on the way home mostly had rifle ammo. But no 9mm ammo for this Glock 26 owner. I'm down to my last 500 rounds of range ammo. I'm going to range this Friday so I'll be down at least 100 rounds.
For some reason every WM "associate" I deal with mentions that gun owners are "hording" ammo. I have to admit that I'm one of the "hordee's".
Hopefully the ammo situation will improve over time.
