Chemistry 08, Virginia Tech is indeed a strong argument for allowing those with CCW permits to carry. Had a student with a permit (most places require you to be 21 or older for a permit), or an instructor, janitor, etc had a gun with them that day, Chances are Cho would have been stopped a lot sooner, and some of those people wouldn't have been killed. What good did the law against carry on campus do, exactly, to prevent this tragedy? Murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, are all illegal, so the gun violation was peanuts. GOD, I would have hated to have been there, hearing the shots, and screams, with my weapon locked up in my car as a law abiding person. And seeing this maniac come into a class, helpless to do anything to save your life, much less anyone else, would be horrifying. I went to "Hokie High" for 2 years in the 70's, and the news hit me hard. And I'll certainly remember where I was when I got the news- I had just come to after lying unconscious in a hospital for 2 days. I woke up at 10:30 pm (pacific time), and watched TV the rest of the night. Since nothing much was on, I turned it onto CNN around 2 AM, and the news reports were just coming in a few hours later. Bottom line, carry on campus? If you have a valid permit, HELL YES!
