    Church or firehouse in NC

    Hi,

I've been reading the CCW law in NC and have not found a good answer to these two locations.

Is it legal to carry in a church - would that fall under educational buildings?

How bout a city owned firehouse? The law only talks about state and federal property.

    Thanks,
    tm

    NCTom,

As far as I know it's legal to carry to church, as long as the church does not double as a school, or has even a day care. The city owned FD would be a grey area for me. What does the SOG's of the FD say?? Is the building posted?

    Hope this helps a little...

Hmm, the church has a pre-school during the week, guess that makes it a no.
I'm not usually there during school hours, but I don't think that matters.

I wonder if a letter from the pastor would override - doubt it.

    Thanks,
    tm

Since there is a pre-school there I would not carry, that's just me though. Not sure if a letter by the pastor would help or not, also depends on how gun friendly the pastor is.

Training and education classes are typically performed within firehouses. So, that would probably place it in the category of an educational facility.

Not really, a lot of hotels have conference rooms they rent to the general public for training seminars. Does that make them off limits?

It may vary state by state, but I was told by my CCW instructor that's the way it works in NC. Granted, he could have been wrong, but he was a very credible resource.

Not related to NC, but here in Arkansas you can't carry in a "place of worship". My family and I pray at meals, does that make my house off-limits?
