I took a Utah handgun safety course a couple of weeks ago persuant to applying for my Utah CCW. It was almost identical to the course I took a few years ago to get my Virginia CHP, but Utah requires that I take the course from a Utah certified instructor. My club brought in the Utah instructor and filled the clubhouse with about 50 students.
My Virginia permit is recognized in 25 states. Utah will add 8 more (Alabama, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, N. Dakota, Washington and Wyoming).
A few days later I was at my city's police headquarters getting finger printed for the Utah application. The technician told me she usually does one or two sets of prints a day for people like me just walking in off the street, but said she had been really busy that week "with all you guys with your Utah CCW applications!" Strength in numbers.
