    Best Advice For Vehicle Carry

Good day. Wondering if you guys and gals can help me out here. I have my CCW, but I am not able to carry my pistol while on duty. I can however leave it in my car. So here is my three part questions.

    1. How do I safely secure a pistol in my vehicle?
    2. How many of you leave a loaded pistol secured in some fashion in your vehicle at all times?
    3. Assuming the pistol is secured, what real issues do you see of carrying in this fashion?

Any help in this regard would be appreciated. Thank you.

First, what do you mean by "on duty"?

    In answer to your questions:
    1. There are some nice security boxes that use a cable to secure themselves to the front seat frame. You then tuck the box with gun under the seat so it cannot be seen from outside.
    2. Never!
    3. I don't understand this question. If it is secured you can't carry it. When I get back into my vehicle I take it out of the security box and holster it in a cross draw holster so I can get at it without the seatbelt getting in the way.

    1. Center of Mass safe...
    2. I would never leave a pistol in my vehicle, full time.
    3. I don't understand... If my pistol is in my CoM safe, it is of little use to me...that's not carrying in my book. If I'm in my vehicle, my sidearm is on my person.

For clarification on question one and three.

    3. Assuming the pistol is secured, what real issues do you see of carrying in this fashion?

It should read something more like this...Assuming the pistol is secured, what real issues do you see with leaving a pistol in your vehicle (unloaded but secured)? I ask the question more specifically regarding the 9 hour time frame that I am at work and unable to carry on my person. Not over night etc.

I'm not a LEO. The restriction on my CCW is "Not while on duty for current employer"

I concur with retsupt, if i,m in the vechile, my weapon is on me at all times ,I get nervous when i leave my pistol locked in my truck, I already think some scumbag is going to rip off my stereo, I'd hate for them to take my weapon too, even when its locked in a safe

    1. How do I safely secure a pistol in my vehicle?
+1 on the Center of Mass case/safe. If a BG found it and really wanted it, they would have to cut the steel cable.

    2. How many of you leave a loaded pistol secured in some fashion in your vehicle at all times?
The only time my weapon is left alone in the car (and properly secured) is while at work or when the law states that I may not carry.

    3. Assuming the pistol is secured, what real issues do you see of carrying in this fashion?
I don't understand the question either... I don't have a cross draw holster, so when I leave work, I put the CoM safe in the passenger seat (unlocked) for easy access if needed - just as quick as retrieving from a holster.

Why argue with the 9mm vs. .45 issue? Carry the best of both worlds with some 40 cal !

I think if you want to carry in your vehicle (if that is what you are asking), then this may be a good idea:
