    my 2 cents

Alot of this info is how to spot a novice that is not comfortable with or not carring right and who is constantley bothered by there gun or thought of getting caught with it which we should not be. The title of this literature should be how to spot a criminal concealing a gun.

Wearing a fanny pack somewhere with a wallet bulge in the back is kind of a giveaway, no? (This was brought up in my CCW class last month.)
Don't frisk me, I am the weapon.

By "pat" it's a casual hand either covering briefly, or actually touching or confirming the location of your concealed weapon. if a knife clipped in the pocket, a simple touch will confirm it's still there and not hanging out. A gun in the wasteband, same thing.

Pats are usually done when the carrier is being approached by a cop on foot or in a car. It's definitely true to..I pat my knife and gun all the time and don't even realize it until I notice that cops look for it and that I did it. A beat cop friend of mine in a heavy crime city says it's almost always reason for an elevated reaction or unsnapping when approaching "garden variety" type people on the streets and the pat gives them a good second qualifier condition to assume they're doing something illegal. "Pat" profiling FTW!!
I think this happens a lot when folks first start carrying. I remember doing give my weapon a pat nearly every time I got in or out of a vehicle my first week.
