It's a common, heavily visited public place most people (on this and other forums) find good grounds to visit when new to Concealed Carry. Most of them (me too many years ago) will find that no one notices or pays any attention to them specifically and you find it helps get you over your own feeling of self consciousness.
It's become kind of a "gauntlet / right of passage" tradition for the CC crowd.

    +1 to that ArmyCop.

Tradition would have been my answer.

    WalMart

Yep...I'm fairly new to concealed carry. The bank and WalMart were my first visits also.

Never thought of it what way. But Wally World was my first place too. I felt so "cool" and "nervous" at the same time! haha People could care less.

LOL, I'm sorta new on this forum as well, but yet, I've often wondered the same thing. So much so, that I too did the Wal-Mart two-set simply to see. I discovered the cost of range grade ammo is markedly less expensive, and they generally have stock on hand. They also have a very limited selection of cleaning supplies which is like’ half of what you would typically pay at your local gun shop...

LOL. Point taken, but it just seems like something a kid would do, that's all. Just my opinion.

I agree with ArmyCop. It isn't childish if it helps you get over being nervous or self conscience. Once you get licensed some where is has to be your first place to carry. Why not WW? People are just suggesting a place where it is easier to break in that "first carry" experience because WW is full of sheeple. I got my permit in the 90's before I ever heard of the WWW and can remember walking around town paranoid because of the "concealed" aspect of it all, I was so nervous that I might be printing and did not want to get noticed carrying. Besides, it is just a suggestion. Where a person's first carry is gonna be is completely up to that person.

We had a stabbing here in a local Walmart and a CCW holder killed the assailant and saved the victim. I would carry in Walmart for that reason alone.
