I still find it hard to wrap my head around the people who keep Obama stickers on their cars and are parked outside the local sporting goods while inside buying guns and stocking up on ammo. There is certainly something bizarre going on inside the heads of these folks.

It makes me wonder about the intentions of Obama supporters. Maybe they feel sorry for voting for him now and realize the error of their ways. Maybe it's their way of reminding themselves to "never again" vote for a liberal & socialist again.

I mentioned in another thread, being "left" does not mean being anti-gun. A vote for Obama was not a vote just about guns. Not everyone votes on a single issue.

The strongest supporter of gun rights that I personally know is an ardent left-winger.

I've read through a couple issues of that thing. It embodies the worst of every liberal stereotype you can imagine while attempting to pass itself off as a cool "underground" paper for the college crowd.

Where the hell do I get one of those? 40mm

Proud to say that I contributed to both the March statistics at the begining of the thread. I would also mention that at the tea party in Spokane with nearly 3000 in attendance that nothing got a louder chear from that crowd then everytime the 2A was mentioned, so I know the climate here is posotive. With that knowledge however I still could not bring myself to open carry while runing errands yesterday. I guess I am not quite mentaly ready for those conversations.

Guns are getting hard to find. I made two purchases this year. Supervisor made a purchase. Many friends are looking to buy.

Some people attribute the gun/ammo shortage to hoarders and marketeers looking to make a profit and that there's no increased interest in firearms at the grassroots level. The jump in CPL applications suggests otherwise.

Comer thinks the sudden influx in gun ownership could lead to more suicides. Access to guns plays a major role in suicides, even more than mental illness, she said.
Now thats a new one on me. People commit suicide just because they have a gun. The gun causes them to commit suicide.

Noooooo they arent mental or anything, they just kill themselves because they have a gun.

Wow, just wow. Anti's are grasping at straws...

They didn't say people commit suicide just because they have a gun. They are saying there will be more suicides as a result of guns being present in more homes (presumably). Their position is supported by fact.

Suicide rates are higher in households with guns.

In my opinion this is the anti-gunners strongest argument, next to accidental deaths of actual children.

Although more people attempt suicide by other means (around 95% do not attempt suicide with guns), those that do use a gun are more than 75% likely to be successful. Additionally, an majority of suicides are committed with guns despite the fact that an overwhelming majority are attempted without them. This does make guns a major contributing factor in suicides.
