I have a non res NH permit and it works for me. Takes care of some southern states that surprisingly Virginia does not.

Down side to Texas is that the training must take place IN Texas. Good excuse for a visit though.

I agree, and that is the reason I did not renew my TX permit the second time. I have FL, UT, AZ, and NM. I just did not want to go to the trouble to go to TX (only 50 miles) and spend the time. I did not see any advantage since I have the others.
But I think the three with the most reciprocity are TX, FL, and UT.
