    Question Port of Jacksonville

We are driving to Jacksonville in 3 weeks for a cruise. We will be parking at the port and wondered about having my gun locked in the trunk. The last time we were there I didn't have my CWP.

I'm guessing that since JAX is a federal facility that the answer will be no. I hate to be on the road for 12 hours round trip with only my winning smile and charming personality.

    Thanks,
    Dave

you could bet many before you have locked their guns in their trunk.

Jaxport is city owned not federally owned.

In your car is OK just like at an airport. Through customs is not OK. I just went on one out of Miami and before at Canaveral and both times it was in the car.

I've been on two cruises and this is a no-no. You got through airport-like security screening while boarding. You can take booze, but no pistola. Makes sense to me.

I go on cruises leaving Florida at least once a year.

Prior to 9-11 cruise ship lines never checked your luggage for anything, but today while they still donít x-ray luggage,(they use a dog instead) I would not feel conferrable bring my pistol on board, and facing the consequences should it be discovered.

So, I always lock my pistol in the glove box, before I pull in the parking lot. The reason I do it before I pull in the parking lot is I donít want anyone seeing me, and then target my car for break-in.

The reason I lock it in the glove box instead of the trunk, is I worry about the guys who load our luggage grabbing the bag I put my pistol in that I intend on leaving in the trunk. Sure I could stand there and tell them ďno not that oneĒ but again, Iím leaving my car open as a target for possible break-in because now they know there is something there.
